No. 230 Leyland Atlantean

No. 230 Leyland Atlantean

230
Fleet No.230, Registration No. ORU 230G was one of the final buses to complete the Trolleybus replacement programme.

One of 17 Leyland / Alexander Atlanteans , was delivered on 6th March 1969.

Delivered in the traditional Bournemouth Corporation Livery of Yellow and Maroon stripes, she also carried the short lived Blue Flash logo. After a busy life serving the residents and tourists of Bournemouth was retired in 1985, and became part of the Councils Museum Dept.

In 1991 Mac Vent Ltd, started trading as Bournemouth Heritage Transport ltd, and set up in direct competition with the Council run buses. 230 became one of those, ending up in a Green and White livery. They ran a number of other buses that had been put aside for preservation, as well as London Routemasters.

Became part of the BPTA Collection and with their relocation of the fleet to Winkleigh in 2011 was sold to us in the summer of 2012, by Daniel Shears.

Repainting was delayed due to an expensive fuel tank repair, but Jack and Phil have done an excellent job in summer 2016, restoring her to her original traditional livery. I helped by falling off a ladder

Internally restoration nearly finished with seats, new floor and repaint

LOOKING FORWARD TO 2017
