No. 925 Leyland Atlantean

Leyland Atlantean PDR1 No.245/925 : Admiral Blake

Built in 1961 for Devon General as one of their famous sea dog Open Toppers, the body work built by Metro Cammell.

She was used mainly on the 12 route, between St. Marychurch, Torquay, Paignton, Goodrington Sands, Broadsands then down to either Brixham or Kingswear. She was converted to one man operation in June 1977.

She has had perhaps the fullest and most eventval life of all of my buses. She has spent service time in Cornwall, North Devon (Illfracombe and Bideford) Horley and eventually Bournemouth. She was used by Bournemouth Vintage Buses for a time, and eventually she ended her career as a tree lopper.

She was purchased in 2006 for preservation, a well earned rest and to be brought back to her home in Devon. Originally replainted in Bournemouth livery, has now been completed restored to Devon General Livery in time to celebrate her 50th birthday in 2011.

Thanks to Jack Parsons and Phil Powers for all their TLC, 2017 will see some friendly Atlantean rivally as 925 will be driven by Jack and Phil will drive 230 to rallies.
